International student health insurance is medical coverage designed to meet the needs of students studying abroad. That means the most country where a student goes to study provides some form of health coverage to cover the treatment and possible surgery of international students. Canada is a nice country to study and there are a variety of health insurance programs for international students. These health insurance programs vary from province to province. We explore some health insurance programs offered by some provinces
1) In Alberta, if you have a 12-month study permit, you are given a full health insurance coverage.
2) In British Columbia, it is much easier. A 6 month study permit is what qualifies a student of international origin for health insurance. Note that the health insurance is not activated till after there months.
3) In New Brunswick, health insurance is granted to international students if they can provide an admission letter from an institution that is in New Brunswick. You also need a study permit duration notwithstanding.
It is important to study the health insurance criteria of a particular region before seeking for admission in that region. Look at what is covered and the qualifying conditions for the insurance package.
